File Down Ceramic Tile
Firmly hold the remaining part of the tile down with one hand while filing with the other.
File down ceramic tile. To use the tile file simple rub the tile file against the tile like you would a piece of sandpaper on wood. A tile file would be used if a piece of tile has a sharp edge that you cannot hide in a corner or cover with another piece. Press down on the back half of the tile with the heel of the non dominant hand. Installing ceramic floor tile is fairly simple until you reach the edges of the room or fixtures such as cabinets pedestal sinks and toilets.
Turn the tool to the 10 setting 25 000 to 35 000 rpm. You can also use an abrasive file to begin smoothing the sharp edges of the cut tiles. Step 3 file the edges. Because they are already mounted on a handle they give much better control than using a power sander.
Files are perfect for sanding curved edges and can be found in a variety of grits or coarseness. Holding the tile file in the other hand set the carbide edge against the rough edge of the tile. Hold the tile securely. The edges of our tiled counters have tiles with 90 degree bends but due to repairs or whatnot before my time some of the tiles hang down further than others.
Set the file against the tile about one inch in from the tip and push down in a smooth downward stroke. 3 grasping an aluminum oxide tile file in your free hand rub it back and forth with rigorous strokes. Use the cutting bit to drill a hole into the tile and then follow the cut marking until the cut is finished. Then place the file on the edge about an inch from the tip and push downward in a single smooth stroke.
Many types of files are made to sand down ceramic tile edges. Rub the tile file back and forth until the sharp edge has been smoothed out and then place the tile where you want it. In these cases you must grind down the ceramic floor tiles so that they fit around these objects.
