Finishing Cabin Floors

Finishing cabin floors. Before finishing the floor we had many people giving us their doubts. Polyurethane is the better choice for a cabin sole. This also means that you end up with a very uniform finish which should result in a great looking log cabin flooring. The wood look and feel suits me well.
If you choose varnish instead of polyurethane to finish your floor you will want to make sure that you select a varnish or finish that has hardening agents added to it to give additional durability to the pine wood. You can choose from a floating vinyl plank a glue down vinyl plank or a loose lay vinyl floor. For a fun wall accent we also put up thin brick veneer. Oil based varnishes are too soft.
Although in my opinion 4 coats of satin polyurethane makes the very best finish for a pine floor there are many alternatives. I used 4x8 ft decorative sheets panels for indoor finishing. Vinyl plank flooring is easy to install and comes in a variety of looks such as wood tile and stone. Because i selected finished decorative panels there was no need to paint the interior of my small cabin. Just measure cut and nail to the wall studs.
If it was our home i must say that i probably wouldn t have been as adventurous. The most natural but least water resistant film finish is shellac. Find a rustic look with a hand scraped texture or a subtle stone look to match your cabin s appeal. To sum up i will say that you need to do this for the right reasons getting a cheaper floor may not make up for the work involved on its own.
