Fixing Creaky Floors With Baby Powder

Sprinkle baby powder baking soda or powdered graphite over the squeaky floorboard and work it into the seams.

Fixing creaky floors with baby powder. It will fill the spaces and keep things from squeaking. Load up the cleaned squeeze bottle from a hair dye kit with baby powder then use its pointed tip to inject the powder between two floorboards that are rubbing together and causing a squeak. Force the powder into the seams using paper towel and a push of a finger. Gently sweep the baby powder over the cracks in the floor.

Walk on the boards once again to check for squeaks. Apply a good amount of baby powder between the boards causing the squeaks. Sprinkle baby powder on the area of the wood floor that s squeaking. Remove the loose nails or staples and re secure the boards to the subfloor by hammering new nails or punching new staples.

If that doesn t stop the noise locate the squeaky floorboard from below and look for movement as someone walks on the floor above. The baby powder keeps the boards from rubbing together without being abrasive.
