Fitbit Alta Doesn T Count Floors
The fitbit company seem to have no interest in asking users what they actually want.
Fitbit alta doesn t count floors. I am too late to vote for the idea of floor counting in the fitbit alta but i also had the same reaction when i found out the alta doesn t count floors. Sunsetrunner floor counting is a hardware issue not software so an upgrade to current altas will never include floor counting. Fitbit devices that count floors have an altimeter sensor that detects when you go up in elevation. Your device uses changes in barometric pressure combined with the steps you take to calculate floors climbed.
Fitbit openly admits that a gust of wind or even a sudden door shutting can affect the floor count. It s a fun extra very little more and if it adds bulk and expense it seems to me a reasonable decision to leave it out. Fitbit devices don t count floors on stationary exercise. It would have to be a new device.
The fitbit community is a gathering place for real people who wish to exchange ideas solutions tips techniques and insight about the fitbit products and services they love. The current alta does not have a built in altimeter to detect floors so it would not be possible to update them so they can count floors. Though i do think adding floors to a slim tracker that has so many features already isn t too good of an idea unless you know how to add more space to a tiny tracker. It reminds me of this every time i see that dumb dashboard.
